One India, Exotic India

I have to thank @photojack on twitter for sharing this video. It is truly amazing footage and my only wish is to go to all those places and capture shots of true India. @photojack mentioned something about Photo Safari in India in 2010 which I have yet to find out about. Now, that is the kind of stuff I would be interested in. Whether I can be a part of it or not, is yet to be seen. Meanwhile, I want to share this video to my visitors for the spirit of India. Its very touching. The background music is beautifully adding that Indian feeling while watching the video.

I guess some of the fast moving frames are result of time lapse photography and it blends perfectly with the rest of the footage. Indian Independence Day just passed on August 15th. And this footage relieved all my workday stress.

HD Footage of Exotic India from Manav Lohia on Vimeo.

One day I wish to tour India and explore it like never before with and without the lens.

Here are some of the best videos I found on India.

Flashback 52 of 365 - Window to Nowhere

Meteor Crater in Arizona - 4/21/2008

In case you haven't figured out what this is, it is a window outside of the museum at Meteor Crater. This place is in the middle of nowhere. And as the name suggests, it is where one of the 1400 lb. meteor piece hit the Arizona desert and created a 4000 ft. wide and 550 ft. deep crater that is now famously known as the Meteor Crater. For more of the images of this crater and the Astrogeology Museum please visit my photo gallery here.

Bing your Tweets or Tweet your Bing

I came across this video that talks about how Bing and Twitter combine their searches in a completely new way. It's called BingTweets.com

This is kind of a new search engine that allows you to search both, tweets on twitter and Bing at the same time. Here, check out this video by thesocialghost.com to see for yourself how it can be used. Then go to bingtweets.com and try it out. I find it a very helpful tool.

Sydney - 8/19/2008

Looking down from AMP tower in Sydney. You can see the aerial view of Sydney Harbor. It was beautiful and grand. I could not get a view of the Opera House from the tower but got a shot of Harbor Bridge from the other side on the tower. Too bad we had to see everything through the glass.

Flashback 35 of 365 - Cowboys and Cowgirls

9/3/2006

Sacramento holds Gold Rush festival of the 1800s almost every year along the sides of Sacramento River. Men and Women are dressed in old style clothing, the type people used to dress up in the 1800s. This festival is so awesome that you actually feel you have traveled 150 years back in time. From roads to shops to games everything is setup to emulate that era. Bustling with activity, the district is alive with shopping, dining, entertainment, historical attractions and world-renowned museums set within the time of the California Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad.

Here's a shot of horse riders moving around town in their cowboy outfit. I am planning to write a blog about this event and post pictures I had clicked when I attended this festival.

I chose to use grayscale here because it fits perfectly well with the subject I am portraying.

Flashback 32 of 365

Wedding Hall

San Francisco - 1/14/2007

From one of the weddings I had shot earlier in 2007. This is the best wide angle I could get given the time and situation. Guests were yet to arrive and I wanted to get a shot of arrangements just before the wedding started. This was Indian wedding. Look at the beautiful arrangement for bridal walk. The wedding "mandap" as we call it in India was to the left at the end of this hall. Below is the attached shot of the "mandap". Typical Indian weddings go on for more than 3 hours(on average). And this was no doubt the whole day event. But it was a fun and learning experience.
